The Indian Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition is available in extremely limited numbers: just 125 motorcycles have been produced worldwide, and only 15 will come to Europe. With just one available in the Benelux, Indian Motorcycle Benelux has chosen a unique way to determine who will become its owner: anyone can place a bid, with 100% of the amount offered above the regular retail price going to Surfivor.
Indian Motorcycle unveiled the new Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition on 9 August during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. This exclusive model pays tribute to the historic connection between Indian Motorcycle and Sturgis, where, in 1938, the foundations were laid for what would eventually become the world’s most famous motorcycle rally.
Production is limited to just 125 individually numbered motorcycles worldwide. Of these, 15 have been allocated to Europe, with only one available for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg combined.
In all other European countries, this limited-edition motorcycle is being offered exclusively to existing Indian Motorcycle owners. They can register for the opportunity, after which a draw will determine who gets the chance to purchase one of the available motorcycles.
In the Benelux, Indian Motorcycle is taking a different approach.
Anyone can bid.
There is only one Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition available for the entire Benelux, and it will go to the bidder offering the highest amount above their applicable local retail price.
Regardless of the retail price in the Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg, only the amount bid above that price determines the highest bid. 100% of this amount will be donated directly to Surfivor.
Recommended retail prices by country are listed below.
The Netherlands: €30,590*
Belgium: €26,290**
Luxembourg: €25,490**
* including additional costs, BPM and VAT
** including additional costs and VAT
Indian Motorcycle Benelux aims to generate at least €10,000 through this campaign.
Bids can be placed from 1 September through official Indian Motorcycle dealers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Participation is open to everyone; owning an Indian Motorcycle is not a requirement.
Throughout the campaign, updates on the highest bid will be shared via Indian Motorcycle Benelux’s social media channels.
A special motorcycle for a special cause
Surfivor supports people dealing with PTSD and other mental health challenges. The organisation focuses, among others, on first responders, including police officers, firefighters, military personnel and other emergency service professionals who may be exposed to traumatic and distressing events through their work. Through surfing programmes and other activities, Surfivor helps participants in their recovery, reconnect with others and rebuild confidence.
The choice of Surfivor is no coincidence. JEEGEE Motors BV, importer of Indian Motorcycle in the Benelux, already actively supports the organisation through Polaris, the other brand represented by the company.
With this campaign, that commitment is being extended to Indian Motorcycle, bringing Surfivor’s work to a new and broader audience.
The connection is a natural one. As an American brand, Indian Motorcycle has strong ties in the United States with first-responder communities and those who have served. Supporting an organisation dedicated to people from these communities who are dealing with the impact of PTSD therefore closely reflects the values the brand seeks to represent.
With the Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition, that commitment takes on a very special form: rather than simply allocating an exceptionally rare motorcycle to one buyer, its exclusivity is being used to generate both awareness and financial support for Surfivor.
Surfivor has ANBI charitable status in the Netherlands. In Belgium and Luxembourg, the organisation is currently in discussions with the relevant authorities to explore how the tax treatment of donations can be arranged as favourably as possible.
From Sturgis to the Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo
The campaign runs from 1 September through 31 October 2026 and will be widely supported through the Indian Motorcycle dealer network, social media, online communications, and both motorcycle and lifestyle media.
The campaign will conclude on Saturday, 7 November, at the Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo. On stage, the Chief Vintage Sturgis, SD Edition will officially be handed over to its new owner. At the same time, Surfivor will receive a cheque for the final amount raised through the campaign.
One of only 125 worldwide. One for the entire Benelux. One very special motorcycle that allows its new owner to do something special for others, too.
