In 1921, Indian Motorcycle unveiled the legendary Indian Chief, solidifying its status as one of the most historic and influential motorcycles of all time. The Indian Super Chief seamlessly merges the iconic American V-twin style with modern performance and technology while embracing a simplistic and mechanical aesthetic that pays homage to the golden era of American motorcycling. Wrapped within a beautifully straightforward steel-tube frame that snugly encases the potent Thunderstroke engine, the Indian Super Chief offers an unadorned riding experience where power, minimalism, and attitude take the lead. It hearkens back to the glorious days of American V-twins when embarking on a journey to nowhere, accompanied by good friends and carrying only the essentials, was the stuff of legends.
The Chief lineup, like all Thunderstroke and PowerPlus models, benefits from a clutch system that enhances overall feel and forgiveness. This innovative slipper clutch reduces engine drag, resulting in smoother downshifting and a more comfortable ride, particularly in challenging road conditions. Additionally, the enlarged friction zone and reduced lever effort minimize clutch fatigue, which proves advantageous in urban environments or when navigating traffic.
The lineup features a 15.1-litre fuel tank, a bobbed rear fender, dual outboard preload-adjustable rear shocks, dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and Pirelli Night Dragon tires. Chief riders can further customize their experience by selecting one of three ride modes: sport, standard, or tour, in addition to utilizing cruise control. With a compact 1626 mm wheelbase, a low 662 mm seat height, and a wet weight as light as 304 kg, the Indian Super Chief instils confidence and is inviting for riders of all levels. Conventional 46mm front forks with 132 mm of travel, a 28.5-degree lean angle, and comfortable ergonomics make it a versatile machine, even on the most challenging routes.
Designed with rider comfort in mind, the Super Chief Limited distinguishes itself with a quick-release windscreen, black leather saddlebags, a touring seat with a passenger pad, floorboards, and traditional cruiser handlebars. The Super Chief Limited is equipped with 16-inch (40.6 cm) wire wheels, a generous headlight bucket with a nacelle, fork covers, and a full chrome exhaust, delivering a high-quality fit and finish. Powering all premium Chief models is Indian Motorcycle’s Thunderstroke 116 (1890cc) engine, providing a substantial 162 Nm of torque.
Furthermore, each model elevates the riding experience with the groundbreaking 101 mm round RIDE COMMAND system, an industry-first feature. Riders can operate the RIDE COMMAND system through grip controls or via the digital IPS touchscreen display. It provides access to various interfaces, including two distinct gauge configurations, bike and ride information, and turn-by-turn navigation*. If using a wireless helmet communicator, riders can manage their music through the RIDE COMMAND system once their phone is paired through Bluetooth or USB. Moreover, riders can access phone information, including recent calls, contacts, number pad, and text message history. When connected, incoming calls will appear, allowing them to be accepted or declined directly through the RIDE COMMAND system.
